My brother and my parents have not taken or demanded any dowry from my bhabhi, sister in law, but i am scared that I will have to be jailed along with my husband and my school going kids if that that selfish girl will put dowry charges against me. She is a very bad mouthed and loose character girl, I came to know through some of her circle friends and one of her neighbor. We did not do any investigation before my brother's marriage. My brother is a very qualified and humble person, he can not even shout in loud voice and she has blamed him of beating her, not giving food to her, and asking dowry from her. My brother is earning a lot but my bhabhi used to demand him to separate from my parents and she used to send money to her parents in Delhi without my brother's knowledge. I and my husband are in government services, if we go to jail then we will loose our jobs also. My mother told me that many girls are using dowry law 498A and file false complaint in police station that she was beaten and and was harassed for demanding dowry and all family members go to jail whether one has demanded or taken a dowry or not. And there is no evidence required and police do not investigate. I am really scared because my family has never been to court and police and we are very respected family.
